Josh Proctor was Ohio State’s starting strong safety when it opened its season against Notre Dame. Throughout the Irish’s opening drive, Proctor lined up in the secondary, but he was replaced by Lathan Ransom on later series. Ransom, a junior who overcame a leg fracture in the Rose Bowl to be at full strength for the start of this season, played 46 out of a possible 50 snaps in Saturday’s 21-10 win, according to tracking by Pro Football Focus, while Proctor saw only five snaps.
