Despite political challenges in Ohio, Intel groundbreaking pulls President Joe Biden back to the Buckeye State


COLUMBUS, Ohio – President Joe Biden didn’t win Ohio in 2020, and wasn’t even that close to doing so. And the Democratic Party’s major candidates, like Senate nominee Tim Ryan, have spent much of their campaigns painstakingly keeping their distance from the president ahead of the Nov. 8 election as they run against the grain in what’s increasingly become a Republican state. But that’s not stopping Biden from visiting the Buckeye State on Friday for the groundbreaking of Intel’s massive new factory in the Columbus area. The visit will give Biden a chance to tout a major policy accomplishment for the White House: the passage of the CHIPS Act, which will provide $52 billion in subsidies to the American semiconductor industry. The legislation cleared Congress with bipartisan support in July, and is meant to entice manufacturers of the computer chips that are used in everything from cars and household devices…
