COLUMBUS, Ohio — Julian Fleming arrived at perhaps the perfect moment, for both Ohio State football and himself. Frankly, prior to the season it appeared the junior receiver might need a breakthrough to stake his claim to a role more than the Buckeyes needed him. The way Brian Hartline has recruited the receiver room, other options abound. Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s ongoing hamstring injury changed the balance in the receiver corps. Fleming’s production no longer was a luxury. Ohio State needed his veteran, physical presence to complement what Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka bring. With a nice sideline catch in the end zone against Toledo, Fleming began to display his receiver skills for really the first time.
