
COLUMBUS, Ohio — As soon as I thought Ohio State football and Georgia had separated themselves in the top two spots of the AP Top 25, things got slightly more complicated Saturday. Not for OSU, which beat Rutgers 49-10 without two of the best offensive players in the country. It was a clunky victory at times, but not one that diminished the Buckeyes’ resume. Georgia, though, has begun to look nothing like its early dominance. Fooling around with Kent State and needing to rally past Missouri are not the stuff of contention for the No. 1 spot. Then Alabama goes on the road and beats Arkansas, which could be argued is the best win of any of these consensus top three teams. (Probably still Georgia over Oregon 49-3, though.)
