Ohio State football’s Devin Brown loses black stripe as he works towards 2023 quarterback battle

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Devin Brown has always known that his road onto the field as Ohio State football’s starting quarterback could potentially be as long as his road to becoming a Buckeye in the first place. As OSU prepares to play Michigan State, the freshman took an important step toward making that happen by losing his black stripe. A year ago at this time, Brown was still a USC commit, climbing the rankings and eventually making his way up to No. 43 overall and No. 6 among quarterbacks. He was also getting onto Ohio State’s radar after its originally 2022 commit Quinn Ewers — now at Texas — was reclassified to the 2021 class.
