Fast start ‘critical’ for Michigan State vs. Ohio State

EAST LANSING – Three games, three losses. That’s the skid Michigan State is riding since opening the season 2-0. There are numerous reasons the Spartans are mired in an ugly losing streak, including falling behind early. In each of the last three games, Michigan State gave up a touchdown on the opponent’s opening possession. Only once did the Spartans immediately answer with a score of their own and that was in last week’s 27-13 loss at Maryland. Michigan State (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) will face a major defensive test on Saturday (4 p.m., ABC) against No. 3 Ohio State (5-0, 2-0) in East Lansing.
