COLUMBUS, Ohio — If Ohio State football’s schedule had held up to preseason expectations, there might be a clear consensus for the Buckeyes at No. 1 in the AP Top 25 poll. Instead, mine was one of only 10 such votes last week. I expect I will again be in the minority and Georgia will remain in the No. 1 spot, unless voters were sufficiently impressed with Alabama’s name-brand win vs. Texas A&M. Ohio State still has big games against Penn State and Michigan (and Maryland) looming in the second half. Two victories which before the season seemed likely to carry good value maybe regain some in the coming weeks. Notre Dame has already bounced back from that Week 2 home loss to Marshall that cut the legs out from under that 21-10 OSU win in the season opener.
