Ohio State football: Bye week comes at good time for beat-up Buckeyes


Oct. 11—COLUMBUS — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day said the Buckeyes reached their only off week of the season at a good time. “There’s times where you start to get into a rhythm and then you don’t want that bye week,” he said Tuesday. “I don’t know if that’s the case here. We’re gonna practice today, tomorrow, Thursday — really put some good three days of practice in and keep grinding on this thing — but it does allow us to get a few guys healthy heading into the Iowa game.” Eight players who are starters or could be considered co-starters have missed at least one game this season. That includes star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has been limited to the first and third games of the season, and running back Miyan Williams, who was a surprise scratch last week after a breakout performance against Rutgers in Week 5.…
