COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State men’s basketball has its first 2024 commitment, and continuing a recent trend, he’s a top-50 prospect. John “Juni” Mobley Jr. — a Columbus-area native who now plays for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas — committed to the Buckeyes during Sunday’s GEICO Top Flight event on ESPN2. He chose OSU over Arizona State, Creighton, LSU, USC and Xavier. Mobley is a 6-0, 150-pound shooter ranked No. 43 overall in the 247 Sports composite and seventh among point guards. He grew up in Reynoldsburg, east of Columbus, before moving to Las Vegas in 2020. Three of OSU’s four commitments in the 2023 class are top-50 prospects: Scotty Middleton (39), Taison Chatman (44) and Devin Royal (50). That class is currently ranked fifth nationally.
