AP Top 25: Where is Ohio State football on Nathan Baird’s Week 9 ballot?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football played its least dominant, most mistake-prone offensive game so far and still beat a conference opponent 54-10 on Saturday. That is the most succinct explanation as to why the Buckeyes remain No. 1 on my Associated Press Top 25 poll ballot. When other national contenders have encountered an off day, it looked very different than the weekend’s lopsided result in Ohio Stadium. Michigan did not play poorly necessarily against Maryland and the Hawkeyes, but won those games by a combined 20 points. Georgia famously limped through a win over Kent State and nearly lost at Missouri. Tennessee won by one touchdown on the road at a Pitt team that appeared solid at the time but has since faded.
