Ohio State’s Noah Ruggles earns Big Ten Player of the Week following career day against Iowa


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Noah Ruggles hasn’t been relied upon nearly as much for an Ohio State football team in comparison to last season. In 2021 he transferred from North Carolina to be the kicker for a team breaking in a new starting quarterback. The Buckeyes would undoubtedly have moments where they’d need to rely on a steady leg to put points on the board when the offense struggled to finish off drives. That became a reality on multiple occasions as Ruggles answered the call on his way to making all but one. of his 21 attempts, including a game-winner in the Rose Bowl. That has not been asked of him this season. He’s still made all but his first kick this season, but the volume of which he’s had to do so has dropped significantly.
