Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud did what was necessary against Northwestern by finally using his legs


EVANSTON, Ill. — C.J. Stroud ran the ball in Ohio State football’s 21-7 win over Northwestern, but not because he wanted to. Mother nature wouldn’t allow the Buckeyes starting quarterback to do much of anything else for most of the afternoon. Rain was off and on all afternoon, accompanied by strong winds that got up to 40 miles per hour at times. As a result, the passing attack was made irrelevant. Stroud had the most inefficient day as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback completed just 10 of his 26 passes for 76 yards. The career-low day marked the first time he failed to reach 100 passing yards or throw a touchdown pass.
