How Ronnie Hickman, Tommy Eichenberg and the rest of Ohio State’s defense graded vs. Northwestern

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jim Knowles doesn’t want Ohio State football’s defense to be classified as a ‘bend or break’ unit but that description feels appropriate in a 27 win over Northwestern. The Buckeyes failed to force a turnover for the first time since a Week 2 win over Arkansas State, while the Wildcats were able to move the ball on the ground at times. That was especially true whenever they went to a wildcat formation, directly snapping the ball to running back Evan Hull. But OSU got stops when it needed to and only managed to give up seven points. That charge was led Tommy Eichenberg as one of only three players to have a Pro Football Focus grade of at least 70 while playing at least 50 snaps. The others were Ronnie Hickman and Taron Vincent.
