EVANSTON, Ill. — Three observations from Ohio State football’s 21-7 victory at Northwestern on Saturday. 1. You couldn’t fully appreciate the conditions whipping through Ryan Field until you went down and walked through them. Or tried to, anyway. I walked around a corner near the OSU locker room and slammed into a wall of wind that I assume replicated the experience of rushing the quarterback on Dawand Jones. Knocked the phone out of my hands. That was the lone forced fumble of the day, so kudos to the competitors for playing such a clean game under such messy circumstances. And preemptive kudos for the next time — because there will be a next time. Maybe not the gale-force winds that nearly did Northwestern a favor and toppled its outgoing stadium a year ahead of schedule.
