Ohio State football’s Marvin Harrison Jr. snaps Buckeyes’ Biletnikoff Award finalist drought


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football finally has its Biletnikoff Award finalist, though he wasn’t the most likely candidate at the start of the season. Marvin Harrison Jr. was announced as one of the three finalists on Tuesday morning. He joins Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt and Iowa State’s Xavier Hutchinson as the final candidates for the award given to the nation’s top receiver. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was considered OSU’s best preseason candidate, coming off his record-setting sophomore season. However, he played only three regular-season games due to a hamstring injury, opening Harrison’s opportunity to become a star. Terry Glenn won the Biletnikoff Award in 1995, the second year it was given out. Until Tuesday he had remained OSU’s only finalist. Players such as David Boston, Michael Jenkins, Santonio Holmes, Parris Campbell, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson had not been able to crack the top three vote-getters.
