Ohio State can win a national title, but history says it’ll depend on one thing only

COLUMBUS, Ohio — There’s been a lot of looking in the mirror inside the Ohio State football program over the past week following its second straight loss to Michigan in trying to figure out what went wrong. The questions will still need answers at some point, but the Buckeyes’ national title hopes were given new life on Friday night when USC lost to Utah in the Pac 12 Championship Game. That loss paved the road for them to claim the four-seed in the College Football Playoff and a date with Georgia in the Peach Bowl. All the disappointments of the final week of the regular season can now be put on hold and potentially eased over the next few weeks.
