COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day took to the podium to discuss Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class around 12:30, happy to discuss the 19 players who’d signed up to that point. The problem is the class has 21 players. The Buckeyes came into Nation Signing Day having 20 members in their class before four-star edge rusher Joshua Mickens came along just minutes before Day’s press conference. Then it lost four-star cornerback Kayin Lee, who flipped to Auburn. That left defensive backs Jayden Bonsu as the only player left unsigned. When asked if Day thought the class would be whole by the end of the day, his answer wasn’t one you’d describe as optimistic. “There’s still a lot going on,” Day said. “There’s a long way to February, too.” Per NCAA rules, Day can’t talk about unsigned recruits, so he can’t mention Bonsu by name.
