Ohio State football long snapper Mason Arnold enters transfer portal

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After starting the second half of Ohio State football’s season, long snapper Mason Arnold is looking for a new destination. Arnold entered the transfer portal following the Buckeyes’ 42-41 loss to Georgia in Saturday’s Peach Bowl playoff semifinal. Players must enter the portal by Jan. 18 to transfer prior to the spring. Arnold took over as OSU’s starting long snapper on Oct. 22 when veteran Bradley Robinson suffered a season-ending lower body injury. Overall the redshirt freshman handled the job. However, in the Nov. 26 loss against Michigan, he was flagged for a snap infraction, then mistakenly snapped the ball to punter Jesse Mirco when a fake punt had been called. Arnold said this week that he did not hear the fake punt call on the field.
