
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s loss to Georgia in the Peach Bowl playoff semifinal broke the hearts of millions of Buckeye fans, but the thriller also broke ratings records. According to ESPN public relations, the latter of the day’s semifinals brought in 22.1 million viewers. That made it the most-watched College Football Playoff game in prime time since the inaugural year and fourth-most overall. That also made it one of the top 20 cable telecasts of all time. It was the most-watched playoff semifinal since the 2018 Rose Bowl between Georgia and Oklahoma drew 26.9 million. ESPN said the broadcast peaked at 23.9 million viewers from 9:45-10 p.m. The game had a strong lead-in from TCU vs. Michigan.
