James Laurinaitis returns to Ohio State football as graduate assistant coaching linebackers

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s linebackers will soon be coached by perhaps the best to ever do it as a Buckeye. James Laurinaitis is returning as a graduate assistant working with Ohio State’s linebackers, the team announced Friday. He spent the past season in the same capacity at Notre Dame, which is coached by another former Buckeye linebacker, Marcus Freeman. Laurinaitis was a three-time All-American and a four-time Big Ten Conference champion at Ohio State. He won the Nagurski Award and Butkus Award before going on to become the Rams’ all-time leading tackler.
