COLUMBUS, Ohio — James Laurinaitis is returning to his alma mater Ohio State as a member of its support staff, hoping that the role could blossom into more and his former teammate can show him how, thanks to a Ryan Day philosophy. Day established from the moment he was named head coach that he’d build his roster with familiarity playing a significant role in the hiring process. It’s how Brian Hartline ended up as his wide receivers coach much earlier than someone in his position probably should’ve been when looking at things on paper.
