Ohio State football will open season vs. defensive coordinator who spent last year inside Buckeyes


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Matt Guerrieri spent last season as a senior advisor and analyst under Ohio State football defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. Now he will help design the first defense the Buckeyes face this fall. Indiana announced Guerrieri as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach on Friday. He had already left OSU after last season, with plans to become the defensive coordinator at Tulsa under former Buckeye offensive coordinator (and IU coach) Kevin Wilson. Guerrieri instead will stay in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers last month hired former Minnesota defensive line coach Chad Wilt as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
