
COLUMBUS, Ohio — As Kyle McCord stepped onto the grass of an NFL Stadium, surrounded by nearly 70,000 mostly empty seat, his moment had arrived. The future Ohio State football quarterback hyped up his teammates, then confidently stepped into the huddle to lead them. His first snap: A play action waggle leading to a touchdown pass. The crowd roared – mostly because they know handoffs are hard enough at 8 years old, let alone touchdown passes. “It was the cutest thing ever,” said McCord’s mother, Stacy, of that day at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at halftime of a Temple football game. “He thought he was going out to the Super Bowl.
