Michigan ready for war vs. Ohio State in Big Ten semis

When Ohio State, the Big Ten’s No. 3 seed, beat No. 6 seed Penn State on Sunday in a deciding Game 3 in the quarterfinals, Michigan’s path to a conference tournament championship became more daunting. At least on paper. But that’s exactly how No. 2 seed Michigan wants it. The fourth-ranked Wolverines (22-11-3) will host the ninth-ranked Buckeyes (20-14-3) in a single-elimination semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Yost Ice Arena, while No. 1 seed and top-ranked Minnesota (25-8-1) will host No. 5 seed and 18th-ranked Michigan State (18-17-2) in the other semifinal. If Penn State would have knocked off OSU, Michigan, which is 3-1 against MSU this season, would have faced the Spartans in the semis.
