COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State football team’s road to a national title requires it to face some of the names who helped turn the program into what it is today, while the man who led it watches from the sidelines. Jim Tressel was hired in 2001, charged with helping the Buckeyes move from just being an uber-talented team that could not win the big games to one competing for national titles. That goal was accomplished in the form of a 106–22 record (63–14 Big Ten), seven Big Ten titles, three trips to the national championship game — winning once — and a 9-1 record against Michigan.
