COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the majority of Jim Knowles’ career, he was known as a defensive coordinator that wasn’t afraid to bring the pressure. For five games this season, Ohio State has backed off the blitz. And it’s a transition that hasn’t been very difficult for Knowles. The Buckeyes blitzed only a handful of times in their 37-17 win over Maryland on Saturday, in part due to the mobility of opposing quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, but in part because that’s the way the defense has spent the 2023 season.
