Ohio State jumps out to early lead over Michigan State, cruises to finish in 38-3 to stay undefeated


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Midway through the first quarter, the most pressing concern at Ohio Stadium was whether or not enough was being done to give Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Heisman Trophy candidacy a big enough a boost. The game had become secondary by the time the Buckeyes took a two-score lead in the first quarter, after Harrison’s second touchdown of the night. It was clear that Michigan State would have trouble moving the ball, and Ohio State would have no problem doing so. Harrison finished the game with three touchdowns, the Buckeyes finished with five as a team, and the focus shifted fairly quickly from the game itself to staying healthy for the remainder of the night.
