UNIVERSITY PARK — SMU controls its own destiny when it comes to the American Athletic Conference championship, but anything more will be out of the Mustangs’ control. SMU (9-2, 7-0) remained on the outside looking in when the latest College Football Playoff Top 25 was revealed Tuesday night. Advertisement The Mustangs host Navy (5-5, 4-3) at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford Stadium and can advance to the AAC championship game on Dec. 2 with a win. Even with a loss, the Mustangs could still earn a spot in the championship, depending on tiebreakers with either Tulane or UTSA. Advertisement Tulane (10-1, 7-0), which moved up a spot to No. 23 in the CFP Top 25, hosts UTSA (8-3,7-0) at 2:30 p.m. Friday on WFAA/Ch. 8.
