Reports: Quarterback Kyle McCord moving on from transfer opportunity to Nebraska

LINCOLN — One five-star quarterback appears to be moving on from playing at Nebraska. That would be Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord who, according to multiple reports from recruiting sites, chose to focus on other schools after a two-day visit to Nebraska this week. Kyle’s father, Derek, did not respond to a request for comment. McCord was one of five transfer quarterbacks visited last week by NU offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. Of those five, two — Blake Shapen and Sam Leavitt — have committed elsewhere, while Cam Ward is reportedly visiting Florida State. Kansas State signal caller Will Howard reportedly visited Miami, which just lost its three-year starter, Tyler Van Dyke, to Wisconsin. The Huskers could continue to pursue Ward or Howard, look at a different transfer portal QB, or stand pat with returnees Heinrich Haarberg and Chubba Purdy, who started eight and two games for Nebraska in 2023.
