High school football: Perry tight end Luke Farrell commits to Ohio State

A few years ago — Sept. 7, 2013 to be exact — Luke Farrell sat in Ohio Stadium with his brother, Nolan, for the Buckeyes’ game against visiting San Diego State. Even before kickoff, the young tight end from Perry scanned raucous Ohio Stadium that afternoon and thought to himself how cool it would be to play in front of a fan base like that. Farrell will find out first hand what that will be like starting next fall. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound senior announced his intention to play at Ohio State on July 24 at the Buckeyes’ Friday Night Lights event. Advertisement Though Farrell didn’t take part in the festivities, he tweeted out, “I am proud to announce that I am committed to THE Ohio State University to continue my academic and athletic career,” making his intentions public. Farrell said he told Coach Urban Meyer of his decision a few weeks ago. It was just announced to the rest of the Buckeye Nation now. “I’m really excited for it,” Farrell said of his future with the Buckeyes. Farrell picked Ohio State over fellow finalists Michigan State and Notre Dame.
