I turn my attention now to Mark Dantonio’s Spartans … Michigan State could end up a top-10 team and still not be able to overtake Ohio State. How close are the Spartans to winning the Big Ten East and taking home the Big Ten championship? Very close. Michigan State returns standout quarterback Connor Cook and pass rusher Shilique Calhoun is one of the best defensive ends in the country. The Spartans also have big-game experience, having beaten Stanford in the Rose Bowl two seasons ago and Baylor last year in the Cotton Bowl.  Michigan State struggled against Oregon’s speed early in 2014 and Ohio State flew by them in a Big Ten win on the road. The Spartans are very good. But I wonder if coach Mark Dantonio and his players believe they have the speed to stay with the Buckeyes for four quarters. …
