Football season is almost here and gearing up for the fall madness is something that Michigan State fans have waited all summer to do. Ever since the Spartans made a miraculous comeback against Baylor in the Cotton Bowl, Michigan State football fans have been itching for anything related to the gridiron to hold them over until Sept. 5. That’s right, two weeks from today will be the Michigan State football season opener at Western Michigan and Kalamazoo, Mich., will be rocking, hoping for a Broncos upset. However, Mark Dantonio and Co. will do everything in their power to make sure that doesn’t happen. There has been one major in-state upset, two if you count the 2012 loss at Michigan, since Dantonio took over in 2007 and that was at home against Central Michigan in 2009. Michigan State is ready to kick off and the head coach has even stated how this team is game ready. Over the past five seasons, the Spartans have won at least 10 games four times and they couldn’t have done so without some surprise performances from underrated players throughout the year. Tony Lippett is a prime example of a surprise player who came out of nowhere to grab the reigns in 2013 and helped lead the Spartans to a Rose Bowl victory. …
