Ohio State Buckeyes to sell beer, wine at Ohio Stadium this fall

Updated Aug 21, 2015 at 3:06p ET The Ohio State Buckeyes will sell beer and win at Ohio Stadium in limited locations starting this fall. Per Ohio State Athletics’ press release, the Ohio State University will begin a pilot program selling beer and wine in limited locations during football games this fall, Gene Smith, vice president and director of athletics, announced Friday.  Ohio State will sell the beverages in the stadium’s 81 suites and 2,700 club seats. These areas contain 4,370 total seats.  “This decision was made in consultation and with input from appropriate stakeholders, including the Athletics Council,” Smith said in the press release, “The safety and well-being of our campus community is our first priority and the university will carefully monitor and assess the pilot program throughout the season.” Ohio State piloted beer and wine sales in Ohio Stadium this summer at The Rolling Stones, Buckeye Country Music Fest and One Direction concerts along with the Cleveland Browns Open Scrimmage. After each event, the university gathered reports from Levy Restaurants, Ohio State’s concessions vendor, pertaining to the successful sale of alcohol. Ohio State joins more than 32 schools selling alcohol at football games.
