Rutgers’ supporters gave an effort, but the traveling Buckeye contingent served up a lesson in fandom. Ohio State fans showed up in force Saturday night as the nation’s top-ranked college football team made its debut at Rutgers. “Everywhere we go, there are Ohio State fans,” said Ohioan Rich Brown, who flew into New York and took a caravan of buses to Piscataway with 150 other Buckeye zealots. “This is my first time here. Seems like a great place.” There were at least 10,000 Ohio State fans in 53,000-seat High Point Solutions Stadium. Many of them got prime seats in the lower level. They were loud and proud, standing much of the night as their team pushed around the host. It was an object lesson in big-time football fandom. …
