Husker women go cold in loss to No. 5 Buckeyes

Ohio State used an 18-6 run midway through the first half to take early control against the Nebraska women’s basketball team on Thursday before closing out a 96-70 victory in Columbus, Ohio. Jessica Shepard led Nebraska (17-9, 8-7 Big Ten) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Jasmine Cincore had nine for the Huskers, while Natalie Romeo, Allie Havers and Rachel Theriot all added eight points apiece. It was Shepard’s 16th 20-point game of the season. Defense was again Nebraska’s downfall. Ohio State shot 53 percent from the field and hit 54 percent from three-point range (13-of-24). Nebraska shot 5-of-16 from outside, including 2 for 11 over the final three quarters. Alexa Hart had 18 points to lead five Buckeye players in double figures. Ohio State (22-4, 14-1) led for nearly 39 minutes and extended its winning streak to 10 games to maintain a one-game lead over Maryland in the Big Ten standings.
