Ohio State Spring Preview: Three Burning Questions

By Dustin Schutte Posted on February 27, 2016 Aside from the constant quarterback conundrum that riveted the college football country from coast to coast, there weren’t many question marks surrounding Ohio State as it began its spring season in 2015, two months removed from a national championship run. Things are a little different a year later. With 16 of their 22 starters from last year’s 12-1 team gone, there is plenty that remains unknown about the Buckeyes as Urban Meyer enters his fifth season at the helm. A program that has lost just four total games since 2012 is virtually starting from scratch to attempt to continue its reign of dominance in the Big Ten. Unlike last year, Meyer has entrusted his offense with J.T. Barrett, who will be the unchallenged starter heading into the 2016 campaign. He’ll be the unquestioned leader for the Buckeyes next season and should be one of the top quarterbacks in the league. That much is certain in Columbus. There aren’t many other definite answers for the Buckeyes, at least not right now. The three burning questions for Ohio State’s spring practice: 1) Who will step up to fill the wide receiver void? Between Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall, there was a confidence that if the ball was thrown in the vicinity one of the Buckeye receivers would find it.
