Urban Meyer on Tuesday said the Buckeyes have no plans to follow Michigan to Florida. A week after the Ohio State coach suggested he would be open to moving practice from Columbus, he squashed the idea, saying, “I can’t see taking spring break away from the players.” Meyer unwittingly forayed into the news cycle while in Florida himself for a charity golf tournament organized by his former quarterback, Tim Tebow, calling Michigan’s weeklong trip to IMG Academy earlier this month “creative.” “I’m looking into it for next year and maybe the future too,” Meyer told a local TV reporter. “If it’s good for the players, we’ll probably do it.” By Tuesday, he decided it was not. But that is not the case for the Bowling Green State University, which this spring has spent several periods during each practice focused on the different phases of the kicking game. A recent practice saw the team spend a practice period focused on blocking for placement kicks, one period on punt blocking assignments, and a third period on punt coverage routes and techniques. The Wolverines will practice Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, home of the Detroit Lions.
