The news of former Ohio State defensive end Will Smith’s death on April 10 in New Orleans sent shock waves through the Buckeye Nation. Smith was shot and killed during a reported road rage incident. He was 34, and is survived by his wife Racquel and three children. The accused shooter also reportedly shot Smith’s wife in the leg. Smith was a key player on the Buckeyes’ 2002 national championship team that defeated the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl to win the title. He was also a standout defensive end for the Saints.
