Ohio State coach Urban Meyer believes that Cardale Jones can be a successful NFL quarterback, but feels that the 23-year-old will need to land with the right team in order to succeed, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Meyer said that Jones did well at Ohio State because of his strong relationship with offensive coordinator Tom Herman, with whom Jones worked as he led the Buckeyes to a national title in 2015. After Herman left to take over as the coach at Houston last season, Jones struggled, eventually being benched for J.T. Barrett. “I think it’s the situation he’s going to get put in,” Meyer said. “I think there’s going to have to be patience, an excellent quarterback coach that’s going to have to earn his trust.” • Report: Titans GM trying to trade up from No. 15 draft pick Meyer also addressed the possibility of Jones being drafted by the Cleveland Browns, his hometown team, saying that he had not given thought to the issue.
