Cowboys could have NFL’s best rushing attack

With the addition of No. 4 overall pick Ezekiel Elliott, the Dallas Cowboys are going to have three running backs capable of giving opposing defenses nightmares at four or five yards a pop. The former Ohio State star won’t have to shoulder the burden of the Cowboys ground game by himself because he will be running behind arguably the best offensive line in the NFL. But he’ll also share the ball with two capable veteran running backs. “It’s about coming here and learning from a lot of guys and play behind a good offensive line,” Elliott said. Both Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris will not only share ball-carrying duties with the young Elliott, they will no doubt be competing with the rookie to be the featured back. Lance Dunbar, who missed most of last season with injuries, will still be Dallas’ third-down back in passing situations. On paper, the Cowboys could have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL. As the Cowboys newest running back other than Elliott, Morris comes to Dallas with a little something to prove. After three straight 1,000-yard seasons in his first three years with the Washington Redskins, Morris saw his production dip to 751 yards and one touchdown after splitting carries with Matt Jones. In the last two years, the 27-year-old Morris has been showing the wear and tear of a running who has been shouldering the load by himself. …
