Ohio State Positional Preview: Quarterback

By Justin Golba Updated: May 17, 2016 The Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the most successful college football programs over the last ten years, and last year was no different. Their star studded roster led them to a 12-1 finish and a big Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame. Unfortunately for Ohio State, their roster this year looks a lot different than it has the past two years. This Buckeye team lost 10 starters to the first 3 rounds of the draft, including 5 in the first round (Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Eli Apple, Taylor Decker and Darron Lee). Despite these losses, the future looks very bright though for the Urban Meyer led Buckeyes. According to ESPN.com, Ohio State ended up having the fifth ranked recruiting class for 2016, with 25 recruits enrolling in the fall, and they are first in the early team rankings for 2017, with 13 commits already. One guy that is returning this year is their star quarterback JT Barrett. Barrett has had a stellar career so far, winning 15 of the 17 games he started and leading his team to a 27-2 record over the past 2 years. Obviously, the quarterback is a major factor of how well your team will perform and recently Ohio State has not had any trouble with that position. Let’s take a look at the three guys the Buckeyes have on their depth chart and give a quick preview on them.
