Here are six facts about him: 1. Wayne Woodrow “Woody” Hayes was born on Valentine’s Day 1913 in Clifton, Ohio (near Dayton). 2. Before he started coaching at Ohio State, he had coached for three seasons at his alma mater, Denison University (1946-1948) and two seasons at Miami University (1949-1950). He went on to be head coach of the Buckeyes from 1951 to 1978. 3. In his 28 seasons at Ohio State, he compiled a record of 205 wins, 61 losses and 10 ties.
