Uncertainty hurting Day, Ohio State on recruiting trail

Under Urban Meyer, Ohio State finished fifth, second, third, seventh, fourth, second, and second respectively in the national team recruiting rankings, and had the top class in the Big Ten every February during those seven cycles. Right now, the Buckeyes are on the fringe of the top 10 nationally for 2019, and have the conference’s best class, but it may not last that way for long. It appears imminent that Jordan Battle could flip from Ohio State to Alabama, Jestin Jacobs already decided to stick with Iowa, it seems that Cavon Butler will sign with Kentucky next week instead of waiting until February like OSU wanted, and Zach Harrison could easily pick Penn State or Michigan over the hometown school. For 2020, the Buckeyes had the nation’s second ranked class before Meyer stepped down, but they have already dropped to fourth with the decommitments of Jake Wray and Lejond Cavazos.…
