What Mike Weber declaring for the NFL Draft means for Ohio State

When Ohio State fourth-year junior running back Mike Weber announced on Sunday night that he would forgo his final year of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft following the Rose Bowl, it meant one thing: the Buckeye rushing game is the J.K. Dobbins show now. While Weber did say that he will play in the Rose Bowl, Dobbins is set to take over as the true lead back when the Scarlet and Gray take the field for the first time in 2019. Unlike most situations where a player leaves early, this will not change much. Dobbins has, for the most part, been the starter for each of the last two seasons. But the two running backs were listed as co-starters on the depth chart and Weber did handle some of the workload for his younger counterpart.
