Former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is out as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator after three seasons, and his next step is anyone’s guess. Schiano will not be retained by new Buckeyes coach Ryan Day, according to several reports. Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison is expected to cross over to the other side of the rivalry and replace Schiano, according to 247 Sports. Schiano’s departure is not much of a surprise. While the Buckeyes went 13-1 and won a second straight Big Ten title, Schiano spent most of the season under fire as Ohio State’s defense struggled.
