According to multiple reports including Rivals’ Buckeye Grove, Schiano will not be back for the 2019 season with the Buckeyes. His departure comes days after co-defensive coordinator Alex Grinch was named the new defensive coordinator at Oklahoma. Per Buckeye Grove, sources “believe that as many as four new defensive coaches could be brought into the program before the dust settles” as new coach Ryan Day takes over ahead of his first full season as the team’s coach. One of those coaches arriving in Columbus is expected to be Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison, who could be Ohio State’s new defensive coordinator, per The Michigan Insider.
