President Donald Trump will give his annual State of the Union address in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night. What does this half to do with Ohio State sports? Among the number of special guests in attendance will be former Buckeye head football coach Jim Tressel, a guest of freshman Republican Anthony Gonzalez, who is serving as the U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 16th congressional district and is a former Scarlet and Gray wide receiver. Gonzalez, who played under Tressel during his three seasons at Ohio State from 2004-06, credits his former head coach for getting him to consider public office and for his mentorship in encouraging him to run. Gonzalez filed to run for the U.S. House of Representative in2018. He won the election on Nov. 6, 2018, with 57 percent of the vote. Tressel is currently the President of Youngstown State.
