Under Jeff Hafley, Ohio State will 'change it up' on defense

It’s the end of the 2013 season and Ohio State just lost the Orange Bowl to Clemson. The 40-35 defeat to conclude the second year of the Urban Meyer era is only the second loss under the still relatively new head coach but those two losses came in back-to-back games. Despite going undefeated for the second straight year in the regular season, the Buckeyes are not satisfied. The 378 passing yards given up to the Tigers wasn’t an anomaly but rather part of a pattern that haunted the Scarlet and Gray’s secondary — a unit that finished ranked 112th in the country — all season. That offseason, Meyer made changes to his defensive coaching staff, bringing in Chris Ash from Arkansas to replace Everett Withers.
