Tulsa and Oklahoma State tallied the first two wins of the 2019 NCAA softball tournament Thursday in Stillwater, Oklahoma. On Friday, the rest of the field of 64 will get its turn. By Sunday, only 16 teams will remain in the hunt for the national championship, which will be awarded June 4 or 5 at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. The history books provide some clues about what to expect over the wild opening weekend. Since the tournament expanded to its current format in 2005, national seeds have advanced out of regionals 84 percent of the time. The 16 seeds have all survived the past two seasons.
