Four-star recruit Clark Phillips III commits to Ohio State: Buckeyes recruiting news

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State landed a commitment from Clark Phillips III of La Habra (Calif.) High School Friday afternoon. The four-star recruit chose the Buckeyes over 34 schools, taking only one other official visit to California this summer. California, Notre Dame, Ohio State and UCLA were his finalists. He is currently on an official visit in Columbus along with 14 other 2020 recruits. He’ll join Lejond Cavazos of IMG Academy (Fla.) as four-star defensive backs in the class. This is the second commitment Ohio State has gotten today along with 2021 four-star commit Jayden Ballard of Washington (Ohio) High School. He is rated as the No. 46 overall player and the No. 4 cornerback in the class. In two years as a starter, he has recorded 44 total tackles and nine interceptions.
